Ie Tjer? Is that even your name?
Yes, it is my name. Not a rural village in Nigeria. Not the President of Mongolia. Not the scientific term for blue balls. Not how billions of other normal people in the world pronounce ‘eagle’. So, stop calling me that. It’s Ie Tjer. Silenced ‘I’ and silenced ‘T’.
Say it with me, ‘E-JER’.
Okay, Ie Tjer. So how old are you and where do you live?
I was born in 1985 and currently, I reside in this quaint little town called Petaling Jaya. It’s in Malaysia. Yeah, that little dog-shaped country just above Singapore.
What is your bread and butter?
I write for a living, a commercial writer who slogs day and night in an advertising agency making other people rich.
It seems like you hate your job…
I don’t. In fact, I love writing. Can’t say the same about the people I deal with at work, though.
Okay. So, what else do you love?
My family and friends. My tech gadgets. My car. Liverpool Football Club. My point of view and my freedom of speech.
What do you loathe then?
I’m working on a 20-volume encyclopedia for that.
